Any of you use something like this? It seems like it'd be all kinds of handy and awesome.

Choices!
Mon, May 4, 2009 - 3:51 PMTo the best of my knowledge, we've got the Pee Funnel, Freshette and now the She Wee. I'm sure there are more out there. This year, I think I'm finally going to take the plunge and get myself a one of these handy dandy urethra extenders... the question is, which one?
How do they rate in terms of size, portability, ease of use? Which one has the 'it' factor for the playa?

Re: Choices!
Tue, May 5, 2009 - 10:58 AMI got a Freshette at REI and like it alot. I like that it collapses and once you get the hang of the "seal", it works like a charm. I keep it in the car for road trip emergencies all year.
In my tent, I use a wide-mouthed Folgers coffee container so I don't have to use an extra piece of equipment (pee funnel). Plus is has an "aroma-seal" lid ;)
If you get a pee funnel, use it a few times at home for practice before taking it to the playa. There's a trick to getting the right positioning and flow rate, or it may back up and overflow :P -

Wed, June 3, 2009 - 5:47 AMHa ha ha ha! Spork you killed me with "Plus is has an "aroma-seal" lid"
I thrifted an old 1 gallon coleman wide top thermos jug, but it doesn't have an "aroma seal lid"
Which model freshette is recommended, i see several available... -

Re: "She Wee"
Mon, May 4, 2009 - 11:17 AMYep. Had one last year, and I really liked it. It made using a pee jug sooo much easier. With a bike basket and a jug, one can be unfettered from portapotties. I use mine for backcountry skiing, too.

Re: "She Wee"
Mon, May 4, 2009 - 11:19 AMYeah, I have something like this (but with a less-horrific name). Freshette, I think it's called?
They come in handy at Burning Man when the portos are disgusting or I'm wearing a jumpsuit, but I'm always vaguely afraid of peeing too hard and soaking my pants. It's more of a "special circumstances" device for me, most of the time I'll just use the portos normally. -

Re: "She Wee"
Tue, May 5, 2009 - 12:03 AMas far as devices go, freshette is the best, in my opinion, compact, discreet, and easy to clean. though I do still advocate for learning to do it free standing. practice on hitting the drain in the shower and youre good to go in those portas, honest, its scary at first, but once ya get it. it's a life skill worth knowing..... instructions frrely given, just ask.

Re: "She Wee"
Mon, May 4, 2009 - 11:41 AMThere is a camp aptly named "Pee Funnel Camp" that make it their business to hand out as many of those devices as possible... this seems more ergonomically designed, however, and maybe therefor less likely to leak? -

Re: "She Wee"
Tue, May 5, 2009 - 12:04 AMthose pee funnels are really easy to make. though not at all compact or discreet. but they work well. -

Re: "She Wee"
Sat, May 9, 2009 - 5:14 AMLast year I home-made a version of the Pmate from plastic notebooks & heavy duty packing tape from the dollar store. I got like 20 for my buck. Super handy! -

Re: "She Wee"
Sun, May 10, 2009 - 10:19 PMI think I'm gonna have to buy one and carry along with a pee bottle this year. Last year was miserable for me...no portos around when I had to go and I don't know about you but when I have to pee it' is hard to run when you finally do see the portos....
thanks for the recommendations -

Re: "She Wee"
Thu, May 14, 2009 - 9:27 AMI'd use it throughout the year - I know you can make them, or get disposable ones, but this would be more of ah, an investment for me.
....I couldn't type that with a straight face. Investing in a pee funnel.
It just seems it'd be quicker to us, in the portos - and less removal of costuming. Just wiggle it in there and do it standing up.
