Hello my fabulous playa goddesses. This year as the dust starts to gather I find myself 4 months pregnant, and very uncertain as to whether I should take on my 12th year of burning. I'm reasonably healthy, aside from being on the larger side, with no complications of pregancy, normal blood pressure, and no more traces of morning sickness. My biggest concern is the heat of the desert, and I was wondering if anyone has any advice or counsel for me.
Thanks so much ladies!

Re: Pregnant on the playa?
Tue, August 25, 2009 - 4:13 PMIf I recall, there is a big, long thread about this on this tribe. I know the search option is a pain, but it's out there somewhere!
You need to consult your doctor, first and foremost. -

Re: Pregnant on the playa?
Wed, August 26, 2009 - 8:40 AMI went to BM last year 6 months pregnant. The heat was no problem, but I had an RV. It was hard to sleep and my emotions were kinda off the charts with all the energy out there. If you have a man going with you then go and have fun. If your single . . . I would not recommend it. Your friends are your friends (even your best friend) until the party starts. That was my experience at least.

Re: Pregnant on the playa?
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 1:01 PMHi Melissa
I'm 4 months pregnant and sitting this year out only
because my job wouldn't give me the time off.
I was also concerned about the elements.
I would suggest extra water, more than recommended
amount. I am drinking almost 47 oz a day and I was told
I need to drink more. -

Re: Pregnant on the playa?
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 3:11 PMYeah I'm just going to sit this one out. Serious bummer as this has been the most emotionally intense year of my 30 years, but what can you do? Baby is more important now... Congratulations to you! -

Re: Pregnant on the playa?
Thu, August 27, 2009 - 9:55 PMpregnant on the playa was actually a TON of fun. i felt so supported by everyone on the playa. everyone LOVES a goddess belly out there! we shortened our stay to 48ish hours. the hardest part: the dust storms. i was really short of breath, and at one point thought about what it would be like to die of suffocation on the playa. yeah--that sucked! i brought cookie dough with me to the man burning: my acceptable indulgence! walking everywhere was tough, but as a visibly pregnant woman i got a lot of special treatment. hrmm... good luck in everything!
