That was my Girlfriend! She'll be out on the playa again this year. She has all sorts of goodies. Things that went quick last year were cigarettes (of course), blow pops, trial size hand lotion, lighters, and chapstick. If you would like to contribute any of these items or anything else that you would like to see on her tray, It would be much appreciated. Contact me and I'll make arrangments for a pick up.
Thanks, and I'll see you on the Playa, if not before.

Re: Remember the cute cigarette girl from last year?
Thu, August 20, 2009 - 6:54 PMDid you just use cute and cigarette in the same sentence?
So,Im not clear, but are you asking us to contribute to your girlfriends playa gifting? I was under the impression that the gift economy was something each person contributed on their own. If there is another explanation, please forgive me. But most people who gift on playa pay for or make or do the gift themself.

Re: Remember the cute cigarette girl from last year?
Fri, August 21, 2009 - 10:32 AMYes, this falls into the same category as the parties a few acquaintances are throwing for themselves to raise money for their trip to the playa. It seems the notions of planning ahead, working a little harder, smarter, saving money for a goal have not been tightly wound up with the notion of radical self reliance. -

Re: Remember the cute cigarette girl from last year?
Fri, August 21, 2009 - 12:20 PMActually, when reading it, it says "She has all sorts of goodies". Also, a key word being "if". Since she has provided for the community and is doing so again, why is it frowned upon to ask if others would like to contribute to that community tray?
On the playa, I like going to The Petting Zoo. I appreciate their set up and what they provide. Because I like it, I gift a couple bottles of booze and mixers to gift back to the community. We all know what it's like when things start running out near the end of the week! Signs go up for trade and or left overs in some places. "If" you want to contribute chapstick, cigarettes, whatever, does not fall under the catagorey of "raising money for their trip to the playa" -
